Albisa’s Cafe con Leche Candle is All About Comfort

October 8, 2020 By Marta Darby

UPDATE: 11/6/2020 – COMMENTS CLOSED – WE HAVE A WINNER!

Congratulations to Tee Burgess, the winner of the “Cafe con Leche Candle” from Albisa Candles.

Please send an email with your mailing address so we can get your fabulous Cafe con Leche Candle out to you ASAP! Congratulations!

Thank you all for your participation!

Also, CHRISTMAS IS COMING!  Please go bookmark Albisa Candles – HOME OF THE CUBAN BREAD CANDLE and give them some love on Instagram too.

***************************************************************

Welcome to the 4th MBFCF Fourteen Years in the Blogosphere Giveaway of 2020.

Are we having fun yet??

Today I’m super excited to share that my friend, the brilliant Isabel Alvarez, owner of Albisa Candles has done it again.

You’ll remember that she’s the one who came up with the mind-blowing Cuban Bread Candle. Please read about that here – Albisa Candles – Home of the Cuban Bread.

Full disclosure – I got one for every one of my Cuban Family members for Christmas last year, but that’s not important right now.

Isa has now created a candle that smells like CAFE CON LECHE. As in, you close your eyes and you’re a Cuban kid again and mami is waking you up for school with a nice hot cup of Café con Leche. It’s perfection.

Seriously, I closed my eyes and I experienced a type of visceral comfort that is super needed in these strange times we’re living in. I time traveled so hard when I lit this candle that I almost wept. (Also, I’ve never been accused of being too dramatic. Shut up.)

Today’s giveaway is one of these highly coveted Café con Leche Candles from Albisa Candles.

1)To enter the giveaway for the Café con Leche Candle please leave a comment right here on THIS POST – then please go visit the Albisa Candles site and check out her shop. Come back here and tell me what your favorite candle scent might be.

2) Also, for a 2nd entry, go follow @albisacandles on Instagram.

3) Come back and leave another comment and say, “I liked Albisa Candles!” (We will work on the honor system here. Don’t make me spank you.)

I’ll be choosing ONE winner on Thursday, October 15th, 2020 at 11:00 am PST. You have until then to enter.

If you’re the winner, I advise you to get tissues. That is all.

  69. Pilar Vasallo says

I visited the Albisa website and the candle that intrigues ne the most and that I would love to try would be the Todo lo malo echa pa’ ya. For one, we can never have enough protection from the evil eye casters (AKA el mal de ojo). Additonally, as a huge fan of Pitbull (el Cubanito de la Saguesera de Miami), the name of this velita reminds me of one of my favorite songs of his. Lastly, the description of the scent sounds like a candle I would love to own to help ward off all those bad juju. I can just imagine how great that sag, cedar, sandalwood and the brown sugar must smell. Mmmm llevate todo lo malo!

Happily, my family was only separated for a few very tense months. But we were part of the lucky few who managed to leave the country rather quickly.Once reunited, my father vowed we’d never be separated again and so when my older sisters were to be married in California, he packed up the family and we never looked back.We lived in Miami for the first 3 years of our exile, before my parents moved us across the country, and so we made our lives in Southern California. As Cubans in California – “en el exilio del exilio” – we managed to find other Cuban families and connected with the familiar community of people who spoke our language and recognized our customs and our food.I’ve told the story of my family’s exile many times using whatever words the Lord sees fit to give my feeble brain.Tonight, I’m a white haired 70 year old grandmother (call me Wella😉) living in Southern California with the family my husband and I have created. My parents passed away years ago. For a while there, I was overwhelmed by the once easy task of documenting my day-to-day life.Everywhere I looked, people moved on to high production video and I was hopelessly lost, so I put writing on the shelf and happily got caught up on all the seasons I’ve missed from the Great British Baking Show. But then, as I often say, “life is in session,” and my life was accumulating entire chapters before I could even type, “Oh, the Cubanity!”Which brings us to today.
