This is a super newsy sponsored post. All opinions are my own, but you’re going to be thanking me when you get to the end.
As you know, I spend a lot of time at the movies. A LOT. Because, let’s face it, going to the movies is one of our very favorite forms of entertainment. Am I right?
I had the distinct privilege to host a super fun giveaway last week for tickets to see the Disney Animation’s latest film, Zootopia at the beautiful AMC Prime 15 in Century City (Los Angeles).
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen Zootopia. As you know Jon and I were present at the Los Angeles Red Carpet Premiere, which was quite a magical night (that I will name drop into every conversation I can, but that’s not important right now). Read all about that here.
As we arrived at the theater, my guests and I were handed special Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde headgear which, to their credit, they put on without hesitation. All the more awesome because we had no small children in our group. Thanks, guys!
But I can honestly say that watching Zootopia at the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime was an unforgettable experience. (<–) I’m using that word very deliberately, and I’m bound to repeat myself, but let me tell you why…
Thing 1) Assigned seating.
Yes, please! I checked in with my guests and we were given seat assignments. Genius. That was the beginning of the VIP treatment we received at AMC Prime. Guys, why didn’t someone think of this a few decades ago? *starts slow clap* Go, AMC!
Thing 2) Recliners.
Comfortable, luxurious RECLINERS (!) that pulsate the action. Like being wrapped in a blanket of sound and motion, but in the coziest way possible. Seriously, you could feel the sound. It was an absolutely delicious sensory experience.
Also, even with the recliners fully extended there was all kinds of room to walk without bothering the other guests if you needed to get up for any reason. The rows of seats were divided by glass partitions. Once you were in your recliner, you felt like this-is-my-very-own-personal-cozy-space-thakyouverymuch.
You know how you love to automatically put your feet up at home? These amazing recliners let you self-adjust your seat to your best comfort level. Like being at home, but waaay better. Sweet!
Thing 3) The Video Wall Entrance.
For this screening of Zootopia at the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime, there was an amazing “video wall” with the Zootopia characters moving around and “interacting” with the theater-goers. I should have taken a video for the full effect, but I was already blown away and fantastically distracted by the awesomeness.
Thing 4) The SOUND.
The sound experience (<–there’s that word again!) was phenomenal. Because Dolby exists to make sound amazing. There. I said it. If we were going to be talking about “the elephant in the room,” you could literally hear and feel him coming. That’s how realistic the sound system built into the seats was. Movie going will never be the same for me. How to describe it? I felt like I was part of the action. Hold please. Come to think of it, t’s kind of difficult to describe sound, isn’t it? This, my friends, is something that must be experienced. (<–See? I did it again!) You’re not just watching, you’re feeling the story unfold and you’re practically a part of it.
Thing 5) The Images.
Let’s just start with the fact that the Disney Animators went to great lengths to create, not just unforgettable characters, as they always do, but an extremely detailed animal world of Zootopia. Fur looks like real fur. Water like real water. Snow looks cold. Sand looks, well, sandy. The Rain Forest looks rainy and teaming with life. You know what I’m talking about. Seeing Zootopia at the Dolby Cinema at AMC lets you experience (<–I can’t help it!) the movie as the filmmakers intended in breathtaking perfection.
My guests and I all came to the conclusion that if given the choice, the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime is indeed the Most Amazing Moviegoing Experience (!) EVER. That’s the first thing.
The second thing: If we had the chance to see Zootopia again, we’d all sooo do it. It was that good. And we had an amazing time. Thank you, Dolby, AMC, and Disney. You guys are the BEST.
If you get a chance and there’s a Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime Theater in your area, run, do not walk over there and experience (<–I can’t help it.) moviegoing like you’ve never experienced (!) before. You can thank me later.
Here’s a listing of all the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime Locations playing Zootopia on opening week. That’s right now! Go see Zootopia in deliciously fabulous style. Tell them Marta sent you.
