At the end of 2015 I began to hear rumors of a new Broadway show. It was the story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan (with their music as the soundtrack, of course) and how they rose to fame. It was fittingly called ‘On Your Feet!’
ON YOUR FEET! is the inspiring true story about heart, heritage and two people who believed in their talent–and each other–to become an international sensation: Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
I had friends who flew to New York for the Broadway opening at the Marquis Theatre and I (jealously) followed along on social media. Apparently the actual world premiere of the show was earlier that year in Chicago. (I may or may not have been obsessively reading about the show, but that’s not important right now.)
*le sigh*
I kept thinking – wishing – hoping – that the show would make it to LA after it closed on Broadway last year. When Gloria announced there would be a TOUR, I felt like I’d won the lotto!
*hopes, wishes, and prays they would make it to LA*
Well, my prayers – wishes – hopes – seem to be manifesting before my very eyes.
People, ‘On Your Feet!’ is coming to the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles next month!
*does a crazy-happy salsa dance*
From July 6th through July 29th, 2018 the show will be playing close to my area code and I’m super excited. (The story gets better from here.)
My friends at Al Punto Advertising contacted me (because Cuban blogger on the west coast) and wondered if I was interested in covering the show?
Wait. What?
Would I like to go to the LA Gala celebrating the opening of the show?
Wait. What?
Would I like to walk the red carpet and meet Gloria and Emilio Estefan and the rest of the LA Cast?
Wait. WHAT??
Picture me stupidly repeating, “Wait. What?” into the phone, and then as the realization that I was going to get to attend the show as a VIP began to dawn, I begin to nervous laugh like a crazy maniac before finally bursting into happy tears.
So, I’m here to share my happy news – that I’ll be attending ‘On Your Feet!’ in LA in July and I’ll be wearing high heels and makeup like a real grown up as I walk (or maybe lead a conga line?) down the red carpet.
I know. Shut up.
I’ll be attending the show with my favorite escort, of course.
So, to all my LA friends, will I be seeing you there?? Let me sweeten that up a bit for you…
How about a special ticket price? Click on the link below to find the best seats.
Special Offer – $49 (Reg. $79 and $59)
I hope to see you there. I’ll be the one in the high heels and makeup chasing Gloria around the red carpet, singing, “O-E-O-E! O-E-O-O-AH!”
Ya tu sabes.

Enjoy the show! My daughter treated me to tickets this past winter/spring in Cleveland and it was fantastic! I’d see it again in a heartbeat. Get on your Feet!

Marta,
Simply…you will LOVE the show! My husband took us for my birthday and our daughter, Marie (21 yrs.) at the Marquis on Broadway in NYC. We thought it was really special. People were dancing and singing in the aisles. Without giving away too much (bring tissues, Cubanita!), the kitchen scenes were particularly poignant. And, be sure you can dance in those high heels. Enjoy “y un abrazo fuerte, Chica.”

Hi Lourdes,
I will DEFINITELY bring my dancing shoes… and tissues! Thanks for the head’s up.
So excited!!!

Marta

I saw the show in Miami on opening night with my parents. Then a month later in Orlando with friends and my parents. Besides the fact that I am a huge Gloria Estefan fan since the late 70s in Miami, the show was beyond AMAZING. There is a scene where Emilio describes to an agent what it was like for a Cuban immigrant in Miami in 1962. Brought my father to tears. Story telling at its finest woven in with amazing music and choreography. Best show ever. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Marta it’s all you expect it to be and then some more! My best friend had gotten tickets for us for my birthday, I can remember like it was yesterday. We went on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 in NYC (It was also Superbowl Sunday, but who cared) we literally had great seats and then the show started. There were great sets, it was totally captivating with its stories and then the music started. It was totally AMAZING!! I love to go to Broadway shows but I had never enjoyed one as much.
I wish you and Eric the bestest time ever!! And don’t forget to Get On Your Feet and enjoy the ride!!! All the best always!

Wow Marta! That’s awesome! We saw the show this year at the Adrienne Arsht Center In Miami. We LOVED it!!
You will be dancing throughout the show believe me. The Miami audience was full of clapping and cheering. You know that “Glorita” is a goddess here in Miami 😉 I live on the same block where Emilio and Gloria have their recording studio. I hope that some day I will bump into them, lol So far no luck.
Have lots of fun, “Wait. What?” I know you WILL have fun!

Faustino!!
I can’t even tell you how excited I am about meeting our own Cuban Royalty tomorrow! I have to temper my enthusiasm so I don’t overwhelm them! LOL.
I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this show. Can’t wait!!
