California is fickle.
It can be 100 degrees one day and back down to 65 the next. It's been a relatively mild Spring and we are now barreling towards summer and that means Outdoor Entertaining Season. Can I get an "Amen?"
Eric and I have been planning a Big Birthday Bash. It should have taken place this weekend. However, because California is acting out like a spoiled child right now and the weather is not cooperating with our plans, we've had to bump our celebration out another month.
I'm okay with that. It just gives us more time to attend to last minute garden details.
Remember last month when we started loving and feeding and refreshing our lawn and garden? Scotts wants to know how I express myself in my garden. Hello….Flowers!
I'm a Flower Lover. Anything that will give me lush green leaves and gorgeous blooms has my heart. Also, the whole planting, pruning, watering stuff is part of our family's DNA. It's just an activity that we love to do together. Well, mostly Eric and Jonathan do the heavy lifting and I just shout out commands, but that's not important right now.
As you can see, the time and care we took last month and Scotts Miracle-Gro® has totally paid off. Be prepared to be amazed by my flowers…
My favorite Disneyland Roses are really putting on a show for the entire neighborhood. Seriously. Neighbors stop as they're walking by to ooh and aah and make comments and smell my roses. (Win!)
My hydrangeas, too. I always get a little scared that this might be the year they decide not to bloom because they want to stay dormant. Using the Scotts Miracle-Gro® has changed all that. I know I'm practically guaranteed some beautiful blooms. You can pick all these products up at Walmart, of course.
I really want you to get in on the fun of sprucing up your garden, so with a generous donation from my sponsor, Scotts, I'm excited to share today's giveaway.
Scotts has given me one of these for myself (Yay!) and I'm happy to announce that I'll be sharing the love with two lucky MBFCF readers.
I'm giving away, not one, but two Veggie & Herb Garden Starter Packages from Scotts Miracle-Gro® for you to do some fun summer gardening yourself.
Included in this Veggie & Herb Garden Starter Package
- 1 Scotts Yard Care Wet/Dry Grip Gardening Gloves

My favorite flowers are Roses, but I love freesias, petunias, zinnias, pansies and tulips. I presently am growing petunias, sage, basil, oregano, thyme, tomatoes and jalapeños among many other varieties of plants in my garden.
My favorite flower is the Lilac. We have started tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, garlic and eggplant.
I love all flowers but my favorite are all the yellow types like yellow daylily, which I have lots in my garden.
My favorite garden flower is any garden flower that is yellow (my dad’s favorite color.) Not much growing in my garden at the moment. Would love to start my very own veggie and herb garden to show my boys (husband and two boys) I do have a green thumb after all.
Hola Marta! My very favorite garden flower is the Gardenia. It was in my mom’s bridal bouquet and it was in mine too. I even took a picture with my bouquet to exactly match my mom’s. I have a little tradition thing going on. 😀 Right now in my garden it’s all about flowers that will survive our Tucson heat. My porch is adorable with Vinca (rabbits don’t like)and a bench. I love my porch to say, “Hello and welcome!”
Gardenias are my favorite! Papi plants them at the house and they smell divine (and I can’t help but sing …Dos gardenias…). Right now in our garden we have cilantro, hierba buena, ruda, basil, oregano, tomatoes, manzanilla, cucumbers, strawberries, muscadines, red table grapes, apples, pears, peaches, plums, figs, corn, yuca, strawberries and flowers such as gardenias and roses (principe negro).
Hello Marta…My favorite flower is the Rose. In my garden I have Mr. Lincoln Red Roses, Queen Elizabeth Pink Roses and a few of the Love Red/White Roses, bordered with multi colored Impatients. I also planted the same Impatients around the base of the big White Cherry tree in my front yard, and I have a small potted red Impatient on my Bistro table where I often go out to enjoy a peacful cup of coffee in the morning and watch a hummingbird enjoy the mist of the sprinklers.
My favorite flower is the rose. In my garden right nowI have a crepe myrtle and my herbs.
Sunflowers are my favorite flower =)
Love hydrangeas but they do not do well in south Florida…j have orchids tied to my palm trees that are doing very well in spite of my horrible gardening skills lol. Was talking to hubby last night about having an herb garden so this would be great !
Hmmm – I think my favorite garden flower for smell would be roses (no surprise) but for looks? I love Sweet William. I love the swath of tiny white blooms, tinged with purple – happiness! I’m big on growing vegetables in my garden; right now I have zucchini, corn, basil, rosemary and, my favorite, tomatoes. There’s nothing better than going out to the garden with a salt shaker and pulling tomatoes off the vine, sun-warmed and sweet as candy – yum!
I love all flowers, especially tropical ones. One of my favorites is the bouganvillia. It looks gorgeous with those bright fuschia blooms. I have a few of them, along with palms and fruit trees (yes, I’m Cuban). Love Miracle Grow products and will be using some to get my backyard Summer ready. Guava, avocado, and papaya anyone?
my favorite flower is the gardenia, I have always had a bush and would place them in my Daughters room every year now she does the same with her children. Believe it or not I’m trying to grow a mamoncillo tree , wish me luck
Well, OUR fav is the Disneyland rose, too. I’m also having some luck with Fresno chiles & green bell peppers
My favorite flowers are roses. I have an incredible amount of knock out red roses right now. They seem to do best in this area. Also, many crepe myrtles that are ready to bloom any minute.
My favorite rose is Mt. Hood. This year I have planted ten hydrangeas, 6 hostas and 4 purple heucheras on the north side of the house, to have a shady garden path.
My favorite are Tulips. Right now we have tulips, yellow roses and sunflowers. They are not quite bloomed yet. Hopefully I will enjoy them soon!

My favorite garden flower is the gardenia. I have a huge gardenia bush and it is full of beautifully scented flowers. I also have sunflowers and buganvilias in assorted colors.
¡Hola Marta! LOL ¡Exito!
I have tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, onions, spinach, sweet potatoes and basil in my garden.
In my garden there are roses, mint, hibiscus, daisies,
Hi Marta! My favorite flower is the red climbing roses. They do well in a large pot. It looks like we are not doing tomatoes this year, but I have been buying several impatient plants, different colors. I bought a straberry pot which is the one with different openings along the sides and one on top. I will be planting different colorful flowers. I also love hydrangeas and have a plant of white ones at the front of our walkway by the entrance. I absolutely love doing gardening and I hope to win one of the gifts you are giving away. Abrazos!!!
Hi MarticaMy favorite flower is the hydrangea all varieties and all colors. Living in the South it just says welcome home !
