I'm the youngest of six. Six kids. Nice, big, old-school Catholic family.
By the time I was born my two oldest sisters were teenagers. I've got a pretty good handle on how odd it is having toddlers and teenagers in the house at once. And how it might pose a bit of a dilemma getting them all together in front of a camera.
We had a professional photographer come to our home in Cuba whenever there was a birthday or special event.
But somehow, the six of us were never photographed together.
Never.
Isn't that weird?
There's no really good explanation, either.
Just never happened.
I have never quite understood how that whole family-photo thing got overlooked.
It just strikes me as weird. And my mom has never had any kind of explanation for not having her six children photographed all at once.
And no, I'm (obviously) still not over it.
So maybe that's why I take every opportunity to photograph my four kids when they are together.
Perfect example: Lucy's birthday dinner the other night at Buca di Beppo (her favorite Italian restaurant, but that's not important right now).
My biggest problem is getting them to cooperate because all four of them are Comedians.
Oh, for the love of all-that-is-good-and-holy!! Just smile. All together. Into the camera!

See, it looks like you just snap the photos. My mother — bless her heart — tortures us by posing us ad nauseum. It is an ordeal. I HATE HATE HATE having my mother take my photo because it is NEVER OVER. Not to mention there are only two photographs of me where I look somewhat human: my second-grade school photo and my first Texas driver’s license. It is an aspect of my wedding I am dreading — not that we are having a professional photographer but that my mother will have her camera. That’s one of the many reasons I wanted to elope!Kikita — FABULOUS dress!

CF,Thank you!
You should know, she’s been posing us so long that we are pros now . . . AND we now force to to just snap photos because we refuse to sit still for any extended amount of time. 😉

Marta:I have 12 Christmases worth of shots like this of my kids and niece acting silly. I finally made a scrapbook paged called “Oh, BEHAVE!” and slapped them all on there, in all their silliness. They loved it. If I can find it I’ll send it to you!
