I still have papers to grade and end of the year things to finish for school, but my heart is already gone. My heart has made its way to Miami. I’m hoping it has the decency to wait up for me…..
3 weeks I must suffer. It’s not a pleasure trip, really. It’s more like a holy pilgrimage.
I guess I’ll amuse myself with picking out just the right shade of red for the mandatory killer pedicure.
I haven’t time to give anything else much thought.
Why? Because I’m going to Miami….
This is where you’ll find me. Giving homage and bowing low at the altar of San Pastelito.
A worthy object of devotion. (Don’t judge me.)
Three weeks! Ay, Dios mio!

Versailles! Ay, que rico. I’m going to Miami together with a friend in about 2 weeks from now, and this is one of the first places we’ll be heading to!

Hi!! I just found your blog and I think it’s great! I’m from Miami and Versailles is one of my favorite places to eat Cuban food. Now, I study at Cornell all the way up in Ithaca, NY and miss the Miami sol.I’m actually making pastelitos de guayaba right now for my immigrant entrepreneurship class’s end-of-semester gathering. I will have to come back and check out your blog more often!
abrazos,
Antonio

Curious – Are you using my pastelito recipe? Or do you do them from scratch? I just checked out your blog – you are one talented guy!

Martica!I’m looking forward to going, for the first time, to CN this year! Can’t wait! I’m taking my daughter and mother … 🙂
I’m really looking forward to meeting you and Kikita in person . . . and maybe pay homage a “san pastelito” with the required cafecito … together! 😉 and remind you to take back some ‘bacalao’ for Dogna Luz … 🙂
I wish you well 🙂 Melek

I can’t wait!!! I share your San Pastelito worship. I remember one year Val brought them to Babalú first thing in the morning. Freshly baked, they were warm, with melt in your mouth flavor…ah heaven. It was so nice of him, there´s nothing like them to begin Nostalgia weekend. Especially for us California San Pastelito deprived folks. Sigh. What a way to start the day. Not that I´m hinting or anything in case El Barbaro is reading this…..
