Celebrating Abuela’s 12 Days of Christmas – a lo Cubano

Last year around the Christmas season, Jonathan and I got a call that the lovely and talented Jenny Lorenzo (that’s Abuela to you)  needed some background people for a Christmas video she was shooting. Would we be interested?

Without hesitation, our answer was a resounding, ABSOLUTELY! 

Also, would I be able to make and bring a bunch of maduros? (fried sweet plantains) OF COURSE! 

Which is how we found ourselves traveling a hundred miles north in L.A. holiday traffic, on a Friday afternoon, the week before Christmas. Imagínate tú!

Because when Jenny Lorenzo says, “Jump!” we ask, “How high?” Yes. Even through LA traffic. If you haven’t already guessed, our love for Jenny knows no bounds. *insert all the heart-eye emoji’s here*

After driving for a few hours, the shoot took us most of the day and was as fun as it looks in the video.

Jon dressed up in his favorite geeky Christmas suit, and we salsa-danced our way around the room to the very catchy “Abuela’s 12 Days of Christmas” Song Parody. Ya tu sabes.

We tried to take direction as best we could. The finished product, I think speaks for itself. Jon and I make our appearance at about the 3:10 mark. Please watch the entire delicious thing through to the end. (You can thank me later.)

Also, the maduros were all gone by the end of the day. *takes bow* A big thank you to Jenny Lorenzo for letting us be a part of her wonderfully entertaining craziness.
