We voted today. Yep, we are mail-in voters. At least we are now.
Based on the long lines and the hours it took two years ago, even though my daughter and I had an absolute blast waiting in line, it's not an experience I'm anxious to revisit.
This is a new thing for us so we sat down reverently and filled out our ballots carefully. We made our best-informed decision for the highest office in the land and also for (or against) the propositions proposed in our fair state. (I will not barrage or annoy you with my opinions; I trust that if you're of voting age, you are intelligent enough to make your own informed decisions.)
It felt like a REALLY INTENSE multiple-choice test where you don't even know if you're being graded on the curve or not. (Insert hand-wringing and a mild bead of sweat on my upper lip here.)
I am a proud, naturalized American citizen.
And even though I joke a lot, I take some things very seriously.
Like the freedom to elect our leaders. And I am passionate about what a privilege it is to live in this country and to exercise this right. I take voting very seriously.
But that doesn't mean I've completely lost my sense of humor. =D

And now I shall brave the long lines ALONE this year . . . Sigh. 😉

Ody,That’s probably one of the biggest reasons to vote by mail. Had it been me, I probably would have just tried to point out how illogical it is to try to change someone’s mind as they are ALREADY AT THE POLLING PLACE AND IN LINE TO VOTE.
Sorry for yelling. I am okay with opposing opinions, but rudeness and insensitivity I cannot defend.

Marti,Let’s just hope that Mickey does not get arrested for having registered with ACORN ;)LOL!!! … and your ballots make it to be counted!
We also voted last week since our daughter was home from college … she was thrilled … this is her first time voting … this is such a Freedom … that so many take for granted …
Kikita, maybe you can talk your mami into keeping you company while enduring the long lines on the 4th! 🙂
I wish you well 🙂 Melek
“Freedom is not merely the opportunity to do as one pleases; neither is it merely the opportunity to choose between set alternatives. Freedom is, first of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them — and then, the opportunity to choose.”~ Wright Mills

To vote by mail is such a great idea this year. I know this is not a political forum, but I just had a friend call me that she just came from early voting at our nearby library. She said that a lady came up to her and shoved an Obama sign up her face and told her to vote for a better change. My friend shared with her that she is not interested in voting for someone with socialist views and the lady called my friend a BIGOT.Then the lady said something about the blacks in Cuba and how they have everything because of their socialistic views. Now I ask, “Is she a bigot for realizing that her statement is declaring Obama as a socialist?!!!!” She didn’t even realize she agreed with my friend. Ahi Dios Mio!!!!!! It’s getting pretty ugly out there….maybe I should vote by mail too.

Ody and Marti,Not to mention it is ILLEGAL to campaign within a certain distance around the polling place.

Yesterday, Sunday, here in Miami Lakes, Florida, I passed by the library and saw the BIGGEST voting line I have ever seen in my life. The line went around the whole library premises and then all the way to the corner next to the Palmetto Express Way in front of the Fire Station.I would say that 80 percent of the people in line brought their own chairs. I thought to myself, “Self” can you imagine if the fire truck needs to come out at any moment. Their would be a fight just to get back to your spot in line. 😉 Unbelievable the turn out this year!!!
