My adorable niece, Katie, is 22 today.
That means I will go out on a creative limb for her and write a haiku poem.
Okay. I don’t routinely go around writing haikus, (Well, I confess, sometimes I think of them, but I don’t routinely write them down, but that’s not important right now.)
Katie and I have this tradition:
I write a lovely, and (for me) mentally taxing haiku every year for her on her birthday and she totally appreciates my sense of humor. See how that works?
And because I am not one to break with tradition. . .
I miss you, Katie.
Life’s good. Even if you are
a Banana Slug.
Love,
Auntie M
(P.S. your regalo is in the mail.)

prima! thats me…no its you… wait. AUNT MARTI! you know what is so cool? when i went to type my name, in the name box, it remembered me AND that it is (was) my birthday. thats so cool. It is pouring rain up here and i got really sick over the weekend with a fever and coughing and all that and i didnt leave my bed until wednesday….so im sorry about the delay on the comment but i just came back to life. can i tell you- it is the saddest, most horrible thing to be sick away from home? it is, but my polish neighbor gave me some magical polish medicine to repair my blood vessels and such things. i am a believer in the polish meds!i love this tradition! and my haikus. that was a good one, and i miss you too. i miss all my family. and i still havent seen a banana slug. apparently they lurk in the forest…which is everywhere, but its been rainy and muddy so i havent been to motivated to hunt for them. when it is sunny and pretty i will take pictures of the woods and meadow and ocean and send them to you and then you can blog them! muaha!
i love your writing its very clever. i love you 🙂 i mourn for your computer too, i cant believe its really gone…all of the projects that computer helped me with….sad….
one of my teachers has bonus questions for knowing monty python movie lines…isnt that fun? he is a goofy man and i like it.
ok i cant deprive you of this one i just learned it last night, my polish neighbor’s roommate who is from bangladesh.
Kocham Cie! (I love you- Polish)
Ami tomake bhalobashi (I love you- Bengali)
