This is Lucy. And this is Official Blog-Hijacking Attempt #2.
The following is a post I did on my own super-secret-double-probation blog. I haven't posted enough articles to share with you yet, but when I do, you'll be the first to hear about it.
In the meantime, here ya go…
– – –
I have been doing Geometry for the past two hours.
I can't quiteremember when I stopped working. The doodles all over my math problems
suggest that I have been brain-dead for a good half hour.
Go figure. (no pun intended…)
And then, brain-dead and bored, I sought a form of mindless entertainment.
Enter Mom's Camera.
I thought I might as well take a picture of my calculator, just so I could write about math.
So here it is.
I love this calculator. I stole it from my mom's desk. It's got these big ol' buttons that go clack clack clack when I press them. Like a keyboard.
I'm sorry I don't have anything worthwhile to say today besides, "My brain hurts, I want Tylenol, and I hate math."
And it's awful hard to write something witty when you're brain-dead.
You know, if you type in 0.7734 on a calculator, upside-down it says "hello."
"hello, mom." =D
Hello, Lucy. =D
CF,Just to be clear…
She does the geometry online http://www.aleks.com/about_aleks
The calculator was just one of the closest objects to her when she hijacked my camera to play “Artsy Photo Shoot” (APS) when she was busy procrastinating.
This resultant blog post was because she liked the APS pics so much she felt compelled to hijack my blog and share them with the world.
Now we’re back to our regularly scheduled homeschool day.
How do you do geometry on a calculator? No wonder your brain is tired!
Ah…Summer please get here already!!! Our brains are burned out from all the school work, now we need to burn our bodies in the Summer sun. 😉 (Of course, use lot’s of sunscreen.)Hang in there Lucy, soon enough this season shall too pass.
CF, Determine for me the area of a circle with a radius of 36.721 (Don’t use a calculator) . . . 😉
CF – and don’t forget to show your work! ;-)Lucy! You’re adorable! I love you! SUUUUURRRRGGGEEE!!
Hang in there Lucy, it’s ‘hump’ day, brain-death is expected. I am bored, here at work although very busy. I have numbers around me all day long, I feel your pain. Having some fun helps, thanks for sharing with us 🙂
CF – Kikita is tough!….She shows no mercy!
Lucy, I loved math but I totally relate to feeling of brain-death. I also totally love the calculators with the big, clanking buttons. Reminds me of typing away on my old Commodore 64.And Amy is right, you’re adorable. SUUUUURRRRGGGEEE!! (I don’t know what that means but what the heck).
Whoa! Geometry has changed since 1979 when I took it. (Course, I didn’t use or even have a calculator for any math class in high school, but to quote the immortal Marta, that’s not important right now.) My geometry class was all about proofs ending with QED — all letters, no numbers, which is why I asked the calculator question. No offense intended, Lucy! What I remember most about my geometry class was that the girl who sat behind Maritza Reyes got MARRIED at the age of 15 and she wasn’t even pregnant and we all thought our teacher looked like a slug. He did. He was very, very white and bald and kind of pudgy and grossed us all out.
PS George. Area = pi R squared, right? Straight multiplication.
CF – I was just joking around – you’re right, most of geometry is proving theorems – well at least as I remember it when I took it in ’76-’77 (Freshmen yr. HS).Area (circle) = pi x R x R
Take care,
George
English, people! Speak English!! *sigh* =DBesos,
Marta
You guys, Pi day was last Saturday. Let’s get on with our lives. =D
