Amy likes to think she’s adopted. (she’s not)
She protests that she doesn’t look like anyone in the family.
I insist that all four of them look just like me. . . when they smile.
I think they inherited more personality than looks from me, but that’s not important right now.
The Darby family.
But then I remember I used to say that all the time because my sisters are all the typical Spanish-beauties. (I am not.)
I always felt like I looked different from the rest of the fam.
That is until we took this picture yesterday. . .
The Verdés sisters with our brother – my siblings.
Yep. We can’t deny it.
Actually it just feels really nice to BELONG.
Really feeling the big, fat, Cuban family love there. =D

I used to think I was adopted too. Then they took the high school graduation portrait and I looked so much like my mother at that age that I flinched.good to see you are all going through this tough time together.
BTW tried the churros recipe yesterday; I think my oil may have been too super hot, since they came out nice and gloden, but still kind of crudos inside.

Oh Marti,I have been praying for you and your family during this difficult time. Hugs and prayers and kisses to YOU (a totally gorgeous Cuban American Beauty!!!)
Oh, and, I too, was convinced, CONVINCED I was adopted. I mean there was NO WAY I could be genetically related to the people I grew up with…only to find a picture of my dad’s mom and boy could I see me in her!!! Luckily I did rise above the liberal bias I was raised with and emerged a conservative…much to the chagrin of my parents and siblings…
