The best chocolate chip muffins are easy to make at home.

  • 1½ cups cake flour or all purpuse flour
  • ½ cup granualted sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of MILK chocolate chips - ¾ cup plus ¼ cup reserved
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  3. Beat the egg and add to the four mixture.
  4. Add milk and vegetable oil, stirring only to moisten the flour.
  5. Mix in the ¾ cup milk chocolate pieces.
  6. Fill greased muffin tins ⅔ full.
  7. Add the ¼ cup chocolate pieces - distributed evenly - on top of each muffin.
  8. Bake in a hot oven (400 degrees) for 20 to 25 minutes. If you're using a dark pan, start at 18 minutes and add time if you need to.
  9. Cool on wire rack.
