It’s a lot of fun to be on this side of the blogging wall between a new company roll out and giving the customers a head’s up.
Which is where I find myself today. Drum roll, please.********
Cafe La Lave is finally available in beautiful and practical K-cups. Yay!
We already own an espresso maker and use the smaller espresso pods regularly, and (not gonna lie) are very satisfied with the results, but (full confession) I can’t always have an espresso every day, no matter how tasty.
I don’t have to turn in my Cuban card now, do I???
So todays’ announcement comes with great fanfare: Cafe La Llave comes in K-Cups people! The kind you can pop right into a Keurig machine (no affiliate) and enjoy a deliciouly classic smooth brew.
Having tasted both, I can say that the Cafe La Llave Espresso in the K-Cup is rich like an Americano (That’s coffee speak for “delicious and strong”)
This is what the folks at Cafe La Llave have generously donated for today’s giveaway!
The Starter Kit includes:
- Keurig K-Cup coffee maker
- 2 Cafe La Llave coffee mugs
- 2 boxes of Cafe LaLlave K-Cups
Game changer! Seriously.

I, as mom, usually make the coffee, sometimes American, sometimes Expresso depending on the level of caffeine required. I was born in Cuban and remember having cafe con leche in my baby bottle many years ago. That’s probably considered child abuse nowadays.
Kim Hurmence says
How fun! I started drinking Cuban coffee as soon as I was born. Wh3n I was. Child, I remember my Mom would call when she was on her way home from work, so I could start the Cuban coffee. It was ready when she got home. Now , as an adult, I still make the coffee. Espresso always!,

Lastly I like both espresso and American coffee.

Hi Marta,
I started drinking Cuban coffee at about age 7 when one of my mom’s friends took me to la ventanita at Versailles in Miami. I haven’t stopped drinking it since then! My son was making the cafecito at my house but he’s just moved to college. If I win, I’m going to gift him the Prize pack so that he can continue enjoying his cafecito and share the love (addiction) with his new roommates. Espresso all the way at our house! Thanks for the opportunity to win 💕
Lara Rodriguez says

2. Me, Duh!
3. Espresso with lots of hand whipped espumita.
Maria Balbierz says
I’ve been drinking Cuban coffee since I can remember…I have fond memories of daily visits to my grandparents house where we were greeted with “un cafecito”…and I started my own daughters on it when they were little (just the bottom of the demitasse cup for a taste when they were three!). The first one up in the morning makes the first batch of the day….although there are usually two to three batches made over the course of 24 hours so everyone knows how to make it…and the preference is Espresso.
Sarah Artis says
I grew up in Cayo Hueso (Key West) and I always looked forward to my trips of going to La Dichosa Bakery with Abuela for café con leche & a fresh, hot, buttery piece of Cuban bread, wrapped in foil and cut diagonally. These trips started as early as I can remember- definitely my pre-school days.
My husband makes a 12-cup pot of ground espresso in our traditional coffee maker every morning for us to share as we get ready for our workday. However, the REAL DEAL with the cafetera is mastered by yours truly. #EspumaMatters
Espresso vs. American? Espresso. Always! ❤️
Como dice mi Abuelita “Café Americano?! Guácala! 🤢” (Gosh, I miss her) 💝
Te amo Marta!
RosaMaria Carter says
-My fondest memories are sitting in my high chair, watching Mr. Rogers, and eating Pan Cubano soaked in café Cubano.😋
-I usually make the coffee in our house…love the smell throughout the house.
– Expresso!!
Elizabeth says
I’ve been told I wasn’t given espresso as a child because I was a rather hyper child (ja ja) pero I do know I started drinking it at around 16 years old. Both cafe Cubano and cafe Americano. Both to this day, any time of the day or night. In fact, coffee before bedtime is soothing, call it self-medicating. I make the coffee at home, but I love it when my visit my mom and she makes the espresso and my sister makes the best cortadito! Cuban-bred!
Tamara Arevalo says
I have been drinking Cuban coffee since the age of two. Mami would tell me the story of how I use to request “ape’” that means cafe in a two years old language.
I am the one that makes the coffee everyday since I am the first one up and need my caffeine ASAP upon waking.
Espresso is what I make on the daily.
Esther Avila-young says

I’ve been drinking La Llave about 29 years, when I first met my husband and his Cuban family (I’m Mexican American). My husband is the rare Cuban who does not drink coffee…he says it’s for weak people. I am that “weak person” who loves expresso and gladly makes the coffee ! 😁
Loretta Garcia says
Marta, Thanks for the opportunity to enter and learn about the new K-cups from Cafe LaLlave
1) I started drinking Espresso at about 4 years old (Saturday night domino parties always included cafe y pan con mantequilla) But like so many cuban babies, my tete was dipped into the Espresso and Cafe con Leche at a very early age. Cafe con leche , for sure around 4 years old (little cup at breakfast like my dad, con galletas cubanas)
2) I always make the coffee at my house – do not touch my cafetera!
3) My favorite is always Espresso (smell and taste brings back memories of family gatherings / domino parties.
I will drink Americano but there is nothing like the taste and energy I get from my shot of Cafe LaLlave Espresso!
Un abrazo and thanks for sharing!
